ABOUT

About

AUREL  DE  SAINT  ANDRÉ

French artist going where the creativity keeps shining.
I fell in love with the Afghan Cameras in the bazaar of Kabul in 2005 when I moved there. Each box camera  is a unique piece of art loaded with personality. Within three years spent in Afghanistan I learned some Dari and managed to get trained by a street photographer. I started collecting some of these awesome cameras and was ready to go take pictures everywhere.

Three years later I drove a 1966 VW bus from Afghanistan  to France taking pictures all through the 11 countries that separated Kabul from my hometown: La Rochelle. This unusual slow technique allowes you to connect with people no matter which language you  speak.  The true magic of Photography happens.
Today I build new ones when I visit a  country with found local materials and use them to discover places,  meet people.

I take portraits  between the US and Paris for music festivals mostly, fashion and private events. I am always looking for new adventures, let me know what you have in mind.
